Dr. Destenaves was born and raised in Massachusetts and spent his first 5 years in the South Shore. He then spent the next 12 years of his childhood in France, in the suburbs right outside of Paris and returned to the United States in 2001.
He received a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Hartford in Connecticut. Following graduation, he began working at Apple, inc. and then worked in Medical research in the Department of Rheumatology at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, where he co-authored multiple research articles. This passion for science, his ability to work with his hands and his desire to help people eventually developed into a passion for dentistry.
He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree (D.M.D.) from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in May of 2017. After graduation, Dr. Destenaves completed a one year residency at Denver Health. It was during his residency that Dr. Destenaves became more experienced in advanced endodontic techniques, molar root canals, extractions, restoring smiles, developing complex treatment plans, working with medically complex patients, and continues to this day to have a special interest in endodontics. After completing his residency, Dr. Destenaves began working at Clinica Family Health caring for low-income and underserved patients in the Denver area.
Dr. Destenaves is an active member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontists, the Colorado Dental Association and the Metropolitan Denver Dental Society.
During his free time, Dr. Destenaves enjoys hiking, skiing, climbing and everything else the Rocky Mountains have to offer.
